As a dedicated dog breeder, I believe every step of raising puppies is an opportunity to prepare them for a happy, well-adjusted life with their future families. Recently, I filmed a sweet moment with one of my toy poodle puppies, and I’m excited to tell you about it.
In this video, I’m gently introducing my little one to the sound and airflow of a hairdryer. This is an essential part of desensitization, helping puppies become accustomed to grooming routines they’ll experience throughout their lives. I keep the hairdryer at a distance to ensure the airflow isn’t too strong and the noise isn’t overwhelming.
To make the session fun and stress-free, I use two brushes simultaneously. One brush is for play – she bites and explores it, keeping her curious and distracted. The other brush is for grooming, allowing me to work on her coat while she’s relaxed. It’s a perfect balance of training and play, and it ensures these moments are full of trust and joy.
We also take plenty of breaks for kisses and cuddles. Building a positive association with grooming is so important, and I want my puppies to know they are loved and cared for during every step of the process.
These desensitization sessions are part of my effort to ensure my puppies are ready to thrive in their new homes. Soon, they’ll be leaving my care to join their forever families. While it’s always bittersweet to see them go, I take comfort in knowing they are prepared for this transition. They’ve been nurtured not just with love but with careful training and attention to their individual needs.
To the future families of these precious poodles: I hope this video shows you the love, dedication, and joy that has gone into raising your new furry companion. I’m confident these moments will help set them up for a lifetime of happiness with you.
Thank you for trusting me with this wonderful journey of welcoming a new puppy into your lives!
